SGVTC was founded from a parent study group Byron E. Thompson School in El Monte, CA. Through the efforts of parents and community organizations, the Center opened its doors in June 1962 providing services to 12 orthopedically disabled adults and youth.
Today the Center provides a wide range of vocational services to an average of 350 disabled adults and youth at two locations; SGVTC in La Puente, CA and CRTC in Covina, CA. These services include evaluation, adjustment, training, job placement, supported employment, enclaves, recreation, and extended employment in a variety of vocational areas.
SGVTC/CRTC enjoys recognition as on of the leading vocational rehabilitation facilities in the nation - a direct result of the dedication and hard work on the part of staff, clients, concerned parents, community organizations, local businesses, and and many interested individuals.
